The Christmas clock. Santa Claus stands with his gifts between two Christmas trees, and the clock plays a melody every hour before the cuckoo calls. It works just as well as year-round decoration for someone who loves Christmas.
Each hour plays one of 12 melodies, then the cuckoo calls. The tunes are Music Box Dancer, Muss i denn, Lara's Theme (Doctor Zhivago), The Mill in the Black Forest, Barcarolle, Die Lorelei, Oh Mein Papa, The Happy Wanderer, Que Sera Sera, Edelweiss, Für Elise and Clementine. It runs on two AA batteries and a manual switch silences it at night.
Hang it on a screw or nail, put in two AA batteries, and set the time with the minute hand. That is the whole setup: no chains to pull and nothing to wind. Replace the batteries when the call gets weak or the clock starts losing time. Dust with a soft, dry brush, and keep water and furniture polish away from the wood.
